About the village

Wu Shek Kok (烏石角) is a recognised village under Hong Kong’s New Territories Small House Policy and part of the Sha Tau Kok District Rural Committee. Historically, it formed a yeuk (oath‑sworn alliance) with nearby villages including Ma Tseuk Leng, Yim Tso Ha and Au Ha, reflecting the tight‑knit, mutual‑aid culture of the area. The village also has its own Tin Hau temple, rebuilt in the 1960s, and sits close to historical sites linked to Sha Tau Kok’s market and fishing heritage. Wu Shek Kok is traditionally a Wong (黃) clan village. Indigenous village representatives recorded in official elections and rural committee documents consistently bear the Wong surname, underscoring the family’s long‑standing role in the community.
